For the routing table display that consists of all the active routes (not recommended when you
have a large number of routes), enter: show ip route show ipv6 route
For a quick quantitative status of the number of routes for each protocol, enter: show ip
route summary show ipv6 route summary
To display the routes learned from a specific protocol (for example, OSPF), enter: show ip
route ospf show ipv6 route ospf
To display routing table information that consists of all the active, inactive, and non-preferred
routes
(not recommended when you have a large number of routes), enter: show ip route
database show ipv6 route database
Ensure you always verify the presence of the route for a specific network or destination. Enter
the following commands to display information about routes for a specific network or
destination:
show ip route <ipaddr> (for example, show ip route 10.0.0.1)
show ip route <ipaddr/mask> (for example, show ip route 10.0.0.0/8)
A route must be “selected" (>) and “FIB" (*) for it to be active and in operation in the forwarding
plane. The preceding command options for displaying the entire database or a specific
destination provide this detail.
If the route is available but not active, take corrective action to ensure the gateway is reachable
and that the gateway interface is "up".
If the expected route is not present, then perform troubleshooting tasks within the respective
protocol. The following sections provide information for troubleshooting within a protocol:

Troubleshooting BGP on page

Troubleshooting RIP on page

For information about VRRP debug command options, see
Debug command options for
VRRP on page

Troubleshooting OSPF
Use
the show and debug commands in this section for debugging issues related to the OSPF
routing protocol behavior, including issues related to the OSPF routes.
OSPF debug options
You can enable the debug options selectively at the global level for different aspects of the
OSPF protocol behavior. The following figure shows the debug ospf options for an IPv4
network.
