two reasons for auto-qos status to be in disabled for an interface even after enabling global
auto-qos: 1. Auto-qos is in manual state 2. Interface is not applicable for that interface
Case – 1: Auto-qos will be applied in inbound direction for ethernet interfaces and outbound
direction
for bundle interfaces. So for applying auto-qos for an interface it should not have any
manual configuration in the specific direction. For bundle interfaces: 1. No policy-map should
be attached to outbound direction. 2. No QoS features (policing, CBQ, monitoring) should be
enabled on the outbound direction of the interface For Ethernet interfaces: 1. No policy-map
should be attached to inbound direction 2. No QoS features (policing, monitoring) should be
enabled on the inbound direction of the interface If the above conditions are not met then
applying auto-qos will fail for that interface.
Case – 2: Auto-qos is applicable only on bundle and ethernet interfaces. For all other interfaces
auto-qos wont be enabled.
Prerequisite: Interface should be successfully created.
Troubleshooting tips:
• Remove
all the manual configurations in the specified direction (outbound for bundle and
inbound for ethernet). Use “show qos chassis [interface-type] [interface-name]” to verify
the QoS configurations for that interface.
• Make sure that the interface is valid for auto-qos configuration.
Newly created interface is having Auto-qos configuration
Symptom: When an interface is created auto-qos configurations are automatically applied to
the interface.
Problem description: This is not an issue. Instead it is the behavior of auto-qos functionality.
When auto-qos is globally enabled, all the interfaces will be applied with auto-qos
configurations. Also any new interface that is created will also be applied with auto-qos
configurations. To view the global auto-qos status use “show qos chassis system”
command.
Prerequisite: Interface should be successfully created and auto-qos is globally enabled.
Troubleshooting tips:
• Disable global auto-qos if auto-qos configurations are not needed for any for the
interfaces.
• Disable auto-qos at the interface level, so that only the newly created bundle alone won’t
be having the auto-qos configurations.
