CHECK EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS (EVAP) SYSTEM
Disconnect the canister control valve (1) hose.
Place a stiff piece of paper over the hose end,
start engine.
Does vacuum hold the paper?
Yes
>> Check for a vacuum leak in the EVAP system (See Evaporative Emissions in Section 03 Electronic
Engine Controls) and refer to EVAP control circuit relative to the DTC.
No
>> Go to the next step.
11.
CHECK ENGINE CYLINDER COMPRESSION
Check engine cylinder compression.
Compression should not be less than 1,000 kPa, and not vary more than 25 percent from cylinder to cylinder.
Is engine compression correct?
Yes
>> Go to the next step.
No
>> Repair as necessary.
12.
ADDITIONAL CHECKS
Check the following for possible additional causes:
Driveline
Transaxle
Charging system
A/C system (for surge with A/C on)
Are the checks OK?
Yes
>> See Diagnostic Help for additional information.
No
>> Repair as necessary.
