5.1 Explanation on PAGE MODE
5.1.1 Overview
Theprinter hastwo print modes: STANDARD andPAGE.
In STANDARD MODE, the printer prints or feeds paper each time it receives a print or paper feed command. In PAGE MODE,
when the printer receives print commands and/or form feed commands, it simply forwards them to the specified print area of
memory. OnlywhenanESC FF or FFis executed allthedata mapped intheprint area will thenbeprintedina batch.
Forexample, suppose you executed aprint and linefeed for data “ABCDEF”<LF>. In STANDARD MODE, thedata “ABCDEF”is
printedandpaperis advanced oneline.InPAGEMODE,the data“ABCDEF”iswrittenin the specifiedprintareaofmemory,and
the memory locationfor the storage ofthenext print data isshifted oneline.
TheprinterentersPAGEMODE withanESCL,sothatallcommandsreceivedafterthatpointarehandledinPAGEMODE.When
an ESCFF isexecuted, the data received until then is printed in abatch. When anFF is executed, the data received until then is
printed in a batch, after which the printer returns to STANDARD MODE. An ESC S causes the printer to immediately return to
STANDARDMODE; anyprintdata, however, that hasbeen stored inPAGE MODE is notprinted.Instead it will be cleared.
