Upgrading Firmware
The P Series Advanced Autopilot Systems are the result of extensive development and
testing programs.
ComNav is constantly doing research and development related to our Autopilot Systems.
From time to time, this can result in new features and benefits that can be incorporated into
an existing system installation, in the field – by a ComNav Dealer, or even by you, if you have
the requisite technical skills.
This is done with a Firmware Upgrade Kit (PN 30110011). The kit contains the required
cable, instructions and a CD with the latest firmware & an easy-to-use program to install the
Upgrade.
Contact your ComNav Dealer for more information.
Important!
Be sure to read all of the documentation accompanying the Firmware
Upgrade Kit, so that you understand all of the operational and performance
changes that may occur as a result of the Upgrade.
Transferring the System Configuration & Parameters
After doing a Firmware Upgrade, it is not necessary to repeat everything you did when you
installed the system originally –
Compass
&
Drive Setup
procedures, parameter
adjustments during Sea Trials, and so on.
The full configuration of the system in a Commander P2 SPU running firmware versions 2.00,
2.10, 3.00, or 3.03-3.0A will be automatically converted to work with version 4.00, and so will
the current values of all parameters in the operating mode menus.
Upgrading versions older than 2.00 will require re-doing the full setup
process.
