Electric power steering system
The electric power steering system (EPS) is
designed to provide steering assist under
various road conditions during steering
according to the vehicle speed and the steering
wheel angle and speed, and reduce the
disturbance to the steering system caused by
uneven roads. It can not only reduce the steering
force during driving at a low speed, but also
greatly improve the maneuvering stability during
driving at a high speed.
Frequent steering operations when the vehicle is
parked or a continuous steering force applied on
the steering wheel when the wheels are blocked
will cause the EPS to enter the thermal
protection mode. In this case, the steering assist
will be reduced, and it will become very laborious
to operate the steering wheel, especially when
parking or driving at low speed. When the
temperature of EPS returns to outside the
thermal protection temperature range, the
steering assist will return to normal.
CAUTION
If the EPS fault warning lamp comes
on when the engine is running, the EPS may
be inoperative, but your vehicle is still under
control. In this case, operating steering wheel
requires a larger force, especially during a
sharp turn and driving at a low speed.
WARNING
If the EPS fault warning lamp
comes on when the engine is running or
the vehicle is traveling, the EPS will be
disabled, but your vehicle is still under
control and operating steering wheel
requires a larger force. In this case, pull
over the vehicle, and contact the
authorized dealer immediately for repair.
When the steering system malfunctions,
please contact the authorized dealer for
inspection immediately. Even if you do not
feel any difference during steering, there
may be a serious problem with the system
that causes steering failure, etc.
