Preparation before driving
Supplemental restraint system
Introduction of supplemental restraint
system
This section contains important information
about frontal airbags, side airbags and side
curtain airbags. Be sure to read this section
carefully before driving.
The installation position of airbag can be
identified by the symbol “AIRBAG”. Airbags only
play as an assistance in protecting passengers
who fasten seat belts correctly, but in no case
can it replace the seat belt.
Not all airbags will deploy in an accident, and the
airbags in different positions are independent of
each other.
If the seating posture is incorrect, the airbag
may not function for protection as expected,
and may cause injury when deployed,
increasing the risk of personal injury or even
death. In order to avoid dangerous situations,
the driver and all passengers shall:
● wear seat belts correctly, including
pregnant women.
● sit correctly and as far away from the
airbag as possible.
● always ensure that there is no object
between the airbag and the
driver/passenger.
Frontal airbag
Driver's frontal airbag is located in the middle of
steering wheel, and the passenger’s frontal
airbag is located in the dashboard in front of the
front passenger.
The frontal airbag inflates and deploys in case of
a violent frontal collision, or a collision similar to
the frontal collision (such as bumping into a ditch
in a road). The damage (or obvious damage) of
vehicle is not a sufficient condition for
deployment of frontal airbag.
The frontal airbag can help reduce the impact on
the faces and chests of the driver and front
passenger in some frontal collisions.
Side airbag
Side airbag is located at the outboard side of
front passenger’s seat back.
The side airbag can help mitigate the injury to
driver and front passenger Injuries in some
lateral collisions. When the vehicle incurs a
lateral collision, the side airbag at the side where
collision occurs might deploy.
When installing the seat covering, do not
cover the side airbag on the outboard side of
the seat back, otherwise the inflation and
deployment of the side airbag* will be
affected.
Side curtain airbag
The side curtain airbags are located at the side
members on both sides of the roof.
This system can help reduce the side collision
on the heads of the driver, front passenger and
rear passengers during certain side collisions.
When a side collision is occurred, the curtain
airbag at the side where impact occurs might
deploy.
The inflation and deflation of the airbag are
completed in a very short time, and the
airbag works only once, that is, once
deployed, it can no longer work for protection
again upon the second collision.
● Dust generated during airbag deployment
will cause irritation to skin and eyes, and
even aggravate asthma. Therefore, when
the airbag is deployed in an accident,
thoroughly wash all exposed skin with
clean water and warm soap.
● After the airbag is inflated, many parts of
the supplemental restraint system will
become very hot. Therefore, do not touch
any of them for fear of scalding.
● Adjust the seat correctly before driving.
Always ensure that the seat is in a nearly
vertical position, and the contact point of
the center of the headrest with your head
flush with the center of your ear.
