Exterior cleaning
When to wash the vehicle
Please clean the vehicle to protect the body
paint in the following cases:
1. After driving in rainy days, as acid rain may
damage the paintwork;
2. After driving along the sea coast, as the sea
water is erosive and may rust the body;
3. When such contaminants as brake fluid, soot,
birds’ droppings, resins, metal grains or insects
are attached to the body surface;
4. When dust or slurry accumulates on the body
surface.
Cleaning method
Wash off the dirt on the vehicle with wet sponge
and plenty of water. Mix neutral soapy water or
detergent (special soap for vehicle cleaning or
ordinary dishwashing detergent) with clean and
moderate water to wash the vehicle clean.
Rinse the vehicle clean with plenty of clear
water.
After that, wipe the vehicle with a piece of
special cloth to avoid spot marks remaining after
the vehicle is dried.
CAUTION
The seams, doors, windows and engine
hood, etc. are most likely to be corroded
by the road anti-freezing salt, and hence
these parts have to be wiped up
frequently.
Make sure that the drain hole under the
door is unblocked.
Before cleaning the vehicle, rinse the
underbody and wheels with water, so as
to remove mud, salt and other dirt.
Do not clean the vehicle surface with such
solvents as strong household soap and
strong chemical detergent, etc.
Never clean the vehicle while the body is
hot; otherwise water spots will remain on
the paintwork.
Never use tough leather or coarse cloth to
clean the vehicle body.
Waxing
Frequent waxing can protect the paintwork, and
keep the vehicle nice.
Mechanical abrasion or intense polishing on the
electrophoretic primer or varnish may scratch the
painted surface or result in vortex-shaped mark.
Polishing is required after waxing so as to
remove residues on the surface and resist
weathering.
CAUTION
Always clean the vehicle thoroughly
before waxing.
Select wax in accordance with the
instructions from the manufacturer.
Never use wax containing abradant,
mixture or detergent, which may damage
the body paint.
Do not use insect repellent on the interior
and exterior surfaces of the vehicle as it
may damage the paintwork.
