Factors of function limitations
Even if the ALC function is activated and
working, the system may be affected or
inoperative under the following conditions:
● Poor visibility caused by, e.g., rain or fog;
● There are obstacles in front of the camera;
● Overtemperature around the camera due to
direct sunlight;
● Glare due to direct sunlight, oncoming traffic,
reflected light from road water-logging, etc.;
● Sudden changes in outdoor brightness, such
as when entering/exiting tunnels;
● Headlamp not turned on at night or when the
light illumination is low in tunnels;
● Absence of lane markings, or difficulty in
distinguishing the lane marking color from the
road surface color;
● Lane markings are unclear and irregular;
● Too wide or narrow lanes, or too sharp
curves;
● Increase or decrease in lanes, or complicated
routing of lane markings;
● More than two lane markings on the left and
right sides of the vehicle;
● Marks or objects similar to lane markings on
roads;
● Isolation strips or other objects casting
shadows on lane markings;
● Short-term change of markings, such as at
on-ramp or freeway exit.
Junction Assist (JA) *
The JA monitors the driving environment in front
of the vehicle in real time, and requests the
vehicle to give an alarm to remind the driver and
enable the brake system for deceleration to
avoid or mitigate the collision when a forward
collision may occur. The JA
is an extension of traditional AEB function, which
aims to avoid or mitigate the collision if the driver
does not take any measures when at risk during
turning. Before the JA works, there is a short
warning stage and a pressure pre-buildup stage
to ensure timely braking.
The JA is applicable to the following scenarios:
● The ego vehicle may collide with an
oncoming vehicle running straight on the left
side during leftward turning.
Whether the JA works or not usually depends on
the speed of ego vehicle, the distance from the
target, the relative speed with the target, and the
deceleration of ego vehicle and target.
Enabling/disabling JA
Each time the ENGINE START/STOP button is
set to “ON” position, the JA will remember the
last state. The JA can be enabled/disabled in the
“CarCenter” - “Driving assistance” - “FWA” -
“JA” menu on the MP5 display.
The Intersection AEB can be enabled/disabled in
the “CarCenter” - “Driving assistance” - “FWA”
- “Intersection AEB” menu on the MP5 display.
Function activation conditions
The JA function can be used only when the
following conditions are met:
● The JA switch is turned on;
● The JA fault warning lamp is not on;
● ESC OFF is not enabled;
● The ESC function is not working;
● The vehicle is turning left;
● The lighting combination switch is in a left
turning state;
