Rear crossing traffic alert (RCTA)*
The RCTA is used for reminders with flashing
indicator lamp on the exterior rearview mirror on
the target side and an audible alarm when the
vehicle is reversing and other vehicles approach
quickly from sides and run in the direction
crossing the reversing direction.
The RCTA is only a driver assistance system,
which cannot be suitable for all driving
situations. The driver must always have
control on the vehicle and take full
responsibility for the vehicle.
Enabling/disabling RCTA
Each time the ENGINE START/STOP button is
set to “ON” position, the RCTA will keep the
state in which the ENGINE START/STOP button
is set to “OFF” position last.
The RCTA can be enabled/disabled through the
“System settings” – “Vehicle” – “Driving
assistance” – “Rear side warning assist” –
“RCTA” menu on the MP5 display.
Function limitations
The RCTA does not always achieve the best
effects for all parking spaces. In the following
cases, the alarm can be activated only when the
target vehicle is very close to the vehicle due to
smaller detection area caused by the occlusion
of objects around the vehicle:
● The detection area is reduced due to the
occlusion of adjacent vehicles or other
objects:
● During parking at a small angle, the coverage
of the detection area is also reduced. Most of
the sensors on the left side are blocked, and
the coverage of the detection area on this
side is significantly reduced:
Function limitations
The system may not work properly if any of the
following conditions occur:
● Sensors are blocked by vehicles parked
nearby or objects.
● The vehicle speed is greater than 10km/h.
● The shift lever is not in “R” position.
● The vehicle reverses out of an angled
parking space.
● The target vehicle approaches or leaves
quickly.
● The target (motorcycle, electric vehicle,
bicycle, pedestrian, etc.) is small.
● The target (vehicle, pedestrian, etc.) is
stationary.
● Harsh environments such as rain and snow.
False alarm of function
In some cases, the RCTA function may be
affected and generate false alarms:
● The rear bumper is slightly covered with dirt
or snow;
● During driving, the distance from isolation
strips and flower beds is very small;
● When there are strong counter-objects such
as walls behind and the vehicle is reversing
quickly;
● There are a large number of metal objects in
the surrounding environment (such as plant,
container port and building area).
