Engine hood
Unlocking the engine hood
1. Open the driver’s door, and pull outward the
engine hood release handle at the lower left
of the instrument panel to unlock the engine
hood;
2. Find the handle between the engine hood
and the grille (facing the upper right of the
emblem), and push it leftwards by fingers to
release the engine hood safety hook;
WARNING
Do not operate the hood locking handle
when the engine is running or just after
the engine is stopped for fear of scalding
due to the high temperature of the hood
locking handle. After operating the hood
inside release handle, wait for the engine
to stop and cool down before opening the
hood.
Do not open the engine hood in the high
wind; otherwise, the engine hood may
overturn, causing damage to parts or
personnel injury.
Locking the engine hood
1. Check that there is no foreign matter in the
engine compartment;
2. Hold the engine hood stably and push it
upward slightly with one hand. Then detach the
stay bar from the support hole with the other
hand and clamp it into the mounting point;
3. Lower the engine hood slowly to an opening
of 20 cm, then release both hands, and lock the
engine hood by its own gravity. After locking,
press down the engine hood to verify if it is
securely locked in place.
CAUTION
Take care not to pinch any person or
object when closing the engine hood.
Releasing the engine hood manually at a
long distance from the top of the front
grille when closing the engine hood, or
closing the engine hood with force, may
cause damage to the headlamp and front
grille.
Before driving, be sure to check that the
engine hood is closed and locked
properly; otherwise, the engine hood may
be opened by the adverse wind formed
during driving, resulting in serious
accidents.
If there is steam or smoke coming out
from the engine compartment, never open
the engine hood, so as to prevent injuries.
