Precautions for replacing damaged wheel
In case of burst, pierced, bulged or leaky tire,
please read the following safety instructions for
safe and proper wheel replacement.
Wear gloves and take appropriate protecting
measures to prevent injury before changing a
wheel.
CAUTION
Make sure the vehicle is parked reliably
and the shift lever is at “P” position.
If there is heavy traffic on the road and it
is in close proximity to the faulty vehicle,
contact the roadside service instead of
replacing the wheel.
Never replace a wheel when you drive the
vehicle on a slope, icy road or smooth
road as the vehicle may slip off the jack
and tip over, causing a serious accident.
All occupants must leave the vehicle and
wait at a safe place (e.g., beyond the
highway guardrail).
Before use the jack, read the precautions
label pasted on the jack.
Place the jack on a solid and flat ground,
and never place any pad above or below
the jack.
Never jack up the vehicle at other
positions rather than the specified jacking
point.
Never jack the vehicle too high.
Never start or run the engine when the
vehicle is jacked up; otherwise sudden
movement of the vehicle may cause an
accident.
When the vehicle is jacked up, never stay
under the vehicle, so as to avoid
accidents.
The jack provided for this vehicle can only
be used to replace the wheels of the
vehicle, rather than lift other heavy
objects or other vehicles.
It is not easy to remove the wheel
sometimes when wheel bolts have been
removed. Be sure to keep the vehicle
stable while removing the wheel forcibly.
Preparations
Preparing to stop
In case of burst, pierced, bulged or leaky tire,
drive the vehicle slowly to a safe place to replace
it with the spare wheel. The following points
should be noted while replacing the spare tire:
1. Turn on the hazard warning lamp;
2. Drive the vehicle slowly, and keep it away
from the highway and traffic;
3. Park the vehicle on a solid and level ground;
4. Apply the parking brake;
5. Move the shift lever to “P” position;
6. Shut down the engine and do not start it while
the vehicle is being jacked up;
7. Get all occupants off the vehicle, unload
heavy luggage if necessary, close all doors,
stand in a safe place away from traffic, and pay
attention to traffic conditions;
8. Place the warning triangle at a suitable
position which is at the specified distance from
the rear of the vehicle.
