A8 MODBUS CONVERTER: The Main Profibus
Cable travels from the X3 Main Frame Manifold to the
A8 Modbus Converter Node and then out to the AR15
Driver Control Node. (Illustration 131 and 133) The
Terminating Resistor on this cable should be set to
the “Off” position. (Illustration 132) The Computer
sends information to the Rotary and Linear Actuator
Motors over the Profibus through the Modbus
Converter Module. The A8 Modbus Converter Module
converts the Profibus communication to Modbus
communication and sends this information to the
Rotary and Linear Actuator Motors. The Rotary and
Linear Actuator Motors send position feedback
information to the Computer through the Modbus
Converter and the Profibus Network. Refer to the
“System Overview - A8 Safety Laser Scanner” section
discussed previously in this section for more
information on the Safety Laser Scanner.
