3. Turn the knurled knob to engage the honing
stone. Make sure that the Knife overlaps into
the hollow in the center of the hone stone about
2 mm (1/16 in.). (Illustration 8)
If it does not:
a. Push and turn the knurled knob to retract
the honing stone.
b. Loosen the locking bolt, the jam nut and the
adjustment knob. (Illustration 9)
c. Slide the honing mechanism up or down. A
downward adjustment will increase the
overlap and an upward adjustment will
decrease the overlap.
d. Tighten the locking bolt, adjustment knob
and lock the jam nut.
e. Engage the hone stone and recheck the
knife overlap. Repeat A to E if necessary.
4. With the hone stone engaged, check the gap
between the knurled knob by the stone and the
housing. This gap should be approximately ,75
mm to 1,5 mm (1/32 to 1/16 in.). If it is not,
loosen the collars on both sides of the hone
shaft, adjust and re-tighten the collars.
(Illustration 10)
IMPORTANT!
Too much of a gap will cause the stone to run out
of travel by the end of the blade.
