STEP 9 HONE THE KNIFE
Just the hone stone should be engaged at this time.
1. Close the door. The system will not operate
with the door open.
2. Pull out the “MASTER OFF” button.
(Illustration 17)
3. Select the number of rotations on the
thumbwheel switch. The first digit must be set
to “A” and the last digit must be set to c/o. A
good starting point is to select 40 rotations,
set the switch to A040c/o.
4. Turn the selector switch to “JOG” and hold for
one complete rotation of the Knife. Check that
the hone stone contacts the Knife edge all the
way around the cutting radius. If they do not,
adjust the stone as described in STEPS 5-4.
5. Momentarily turn the selector switch to
“RUN.” The unit will remain running and stop
after the number of rotations selected on the
thumbwheel switch.
6. Open the door then engage the deburr stone.
Close the door, turn the selector switch to
“JOG” and hold for one complete rotation of
the Knife. Check that the deburr stone
contacts the Knife edge all the way around
the cutting radius. If not, adjust the stone as
described in STEPS 7-3. Then run with both
stones together for ten rotations.
7. Open the door and check the cutting edge to
see if it is sharp. The safest way to check the
cutting edge is to shine a flash light onto the
cutting edge. If there are any “Shiny” spots,
the edge is still dull. If the Knife is still dull,
engage the hone stone only, close the door
and repeat STEPS 8-5 through 8-7.
