Additionally,thebottomlineofthispageletsyoumakeuseoftheImpactfeature,whichletsyou
boostorcuttheamplitude
ofthefirst20millisecondsofanote’satt ack.
Theparametersandvaluesinthefollowingparameterslist(seebelow)applytoeachofthethree
envelopesections—attack,decay,andrelease.Welldescribethemonlyonce,sincetheir
functionsarelargelythesameforeachenvelopesection.Theonlydifference
iswithvelocity
tracking,whichisonlyavailableasaparametertocontrolattacksectionsoftheamplitude
envelope(however,youcanassignattackvelocityasthevaluefortheSourceparameterineach
ofthesections).
Thevaluesofeachoftheseparametersmultiplytheratesoftheenvelopesections
theycontrol.
Valuesgreaterthan1.000xmaketheenvelopesectionsrunfaster(theyincreasetherate),while
valueslessthan1.000xmaketheenvelopesectionsrunslower.Sayforexamplethatonthe
currentlayersAMPENVpageyouhadsettheDecaysection’stimeat2.00seconds,anditslevel
at0%.Thissetsthelayersamplitudetofadetos ilence twosecondsafterthecompletionofthe
lastattacksegment.Thedecaytimeistwoseconds;thedecayrateis50%persecond.Nowifyou
selecttheENVCTLpageandsettheDecayAdjustparametertoavalue
of2.000x,you’ve
increasedthedecayratebyafactoroftwo,makingittwiceasfast.Therateincreasesto100%per
second,andthedecaytimeisnowonesecondinsteadoftwo.
Note:Since0multipliedbyanynumberequals0,theenvelopeparametersonthispage
willhavenoeffect
onanyAMPENVsectionssetto0seconds.AwayaroundthisistochangeanyAMPENVsectionssetto
0to0.02seconds.
Adjust
ThisisthefamiliarCoarseadjustfoundonmanyotherpages.Useitheretochangetherateof
oneoftheenvelopesectionswithoutreprogrammingtheenvelopeitself.Thisparameterdoesn’t
giveyourealtimecontrolovertheenvelope.Itis,however,agoodwayto adjustthenatural
envelopeswithout
switchingtoaUserenvelopeandtryingtoapproximatetheNatural
envelope.
Key Tracking
ThisusestheMIDInotenumberofeachkeyasthecontrolinputforthecurrentlayers
correspondingenvelopesection.Whenthevalueofthisparameterisgreaterthan 1.000x,notes
aboveC4willmaketheenvelopesectionrunfaster,whilenotesbelowC4willmakeitrun
slower.Whenthevalueofthisparameterislessthan1.000x,notesaboveC4willmakethe
envelopesectionrunslower,andnotesbelowC4willmakeitrunfaster.Thisgivesyourealtime
envelopecontrolrightfromyourMIDIcontroller.Youmightuseit,forexample,to
causean
acousticguitarsoundtodecayquickeratthehighend(setthekeytrackingtoapositivevalue).
