Upper Volume Adjust
Sincesamplevolumescanvary,whilethevolumeofDSP‐generatedwaveformswillremain
consistent,youmayfinditnecessarytoadjustthelevelofthesample‐basedtonewheels.This
parameterletsyouadjusttheamplitudeoftheupper(sample‐based)tonewheelsrelativeto
amplitudeofthewaveform‐generated
tonewheels.
Number of Tone Wheels
ThisparameterletsyouspecifythenumberoftonewheelsusedbyaKB3program.Theclassic
tonewheelorgansused91tonewheels,thoughthelowest12wereforthepedalsonly.
Therefore,youmayfind79agoodnumberoftonewheelstospecifyforrealisticorgan
emulations.This
wouldleaveyou88voicesforotherprograms.Youcanspecifyupto91tone
wheels.ThenumberofPC3KvoicesusedbyaKB3programis(numberoftonewheels+1)/2,
roundedtothenexthighestwholenumberiftheresultisafraction.So,for
example,with79
tonewheelsspecifiedyouwoulduse 40 voices.Keepinmindthatthesevoicesarepermanently
allocatedandrunningwhiletheKB3programisselected,andcannotbestolen.Theadditional
voiceusedbyKB3programsisforkeyclick.
Organ Map
Theorganmapcontrolstherelativeamplitude ofeachkey,perdrawbar.Likethewheelvolume
maps,thesemapsarebasedonmeasurementswe’vemadeonactualorgans.Equalusesthe
samevolumeforeachkeyanddrawbar,andisnotbasedonarealB3.Peck’sisagoodnormal
map,fromaB3ingoodcondition.Eric’sisabitmoreidealized;it’ssmoothedout,butless
realistic.Bob’sismoreuneven,basedonanoldB3.
Wheel Volume Map
Thewheelvolumemapdeterminesthevolumelevelforeachtonewheel.We’veprovided
severaltonewheelvolumemapshere,basedonmeasurementswe’vetakenondifferentorgans.
Equalisamapwithalltonewheelsatthesamevolume.It’snotbasedonarealB3.Brightisa
good
normalmap,basedonaB3ingoodcondition.JunkyisbasedonaB3withanuneven,
rolled‐offresponse.MellowissomewherebetweenBrightandJunky.
YoucanalsoapplyEQtocontrolwheelvolumesbasedonthefrequenciesofeachtonewheel.

Globals
Thisisanothertoggle,whichaffectsLFO2,ASR2,FUNs2and4.Whenoff,these threecontrol
sourcesarelocal;theyaffecteachindividualnoteinthelayersthatusethemasacontrolsource.
Theybeginoperatingeachtimeanoteinthatlayeristriggered.
WhentheGlobalsparameter
issettoOn,thesecontrolsourcesbecomeglobal,thatistheyaffect
everynoteineverylayerofthecurrentprogram,notjusttheonetowhichthey’reapplied.When
thesecontrolsourcesareglobal,theybeginoperatingassoonastheprogramisselected.When
Globalsareon,
LFO2,ASR2,andFUNs2and4willappearontheirrespectivepagespreceded
bytheletterGtoindicatethatthey’reglobal.You’lluseglobalcontrolsourceswhenyouwantto
affecteachnoteinagivenlayeruniformly,andlocalcontrolsourceswhenyouwanttoaffect
eachlayer’s
noteindependently.
Lower Transpose / Upper Transpose
Thesetwoparametersletyoutransposetheupperand/orlowertonewheelsinsemitonesteps
awayfromtheirdefaulttunings.
