Ring Modulation
Ringmodulationmultipliestwosignals(the“carrierandthe“modulator”)togethertoproduce
unusual,oftennonharmonic,overtones.TheRingModulatoralgorithminthePC3Khastwo
modes:L*Rinwhichtwomonosignalsaremodulatedtogether;andOsc”,inwhichthe
inputisstereo,anditismodulated
withthesumoffivewaveformsthataregeneratedfrom
oscillatorswithinthealgorithmitself.Fouroftheseoscillatorsaresine waves,whileone
(Oscillator1)offersaselectionofwaveforms.
Wet/Dry .Whenthealgorithmisin“L*R”mode,thiscontrolshowmuchoftheleftsignalonlyis
passeddry
(therightsignalisn’tpasseddryatall).
ModModeselectsbetweenthetwomodes.
Osc1LvlisthelevelofOscillator1,from0to100%.
Osc1FreqisthefrequencyofOscillator1,from16to25088Hz.
Osc1ShapeisthewaveshapeofOscillator1,selectablefromSine,Saw+,
Saw,Pulse,andTri.
Osc1PlsWid(PulseWidth).WhenOsc1ShapeissettoPulse,thissetsthepulsewidthasa
percentageofthewaveformperiod.Whenthewidthissetto50%,theresultisasquarewave.
Thisparameterhasnoeffectifotherwaveformtypesarechosen.
Rangeis0to100%.
Osc1Smoothsmooths(removesthehigherharmonicsfrom)theSaw+,Saw,andPulse
waveforms.ASawtoothwavebecomesmorelikeatrianglewave,and aPulsewavebecomes
morelikeasinewave.Rangeis0to100%.
Theotherfouroscillators,Sine2throughSine5,each
haveLvlandFreqcontrols.
Stereo Simulation
TheMonotoStereoalgorithmconvertsamonauralinputtosimulatedstereooutput.
InSelectselectstheinputsignaltobe“stereoized”.ItcanbeLeft,Right,orboth:(L+R)/2.
CenterGainisthelevelofthesummedleftandrightchannels.RangeisOff/79.0to24.0dB.
DiffGainis
thelevelofthedifferencesignalproduced,whichisthespatialcomponentofthe
stereosignal.RangeisOff/79.0to24.0dB.
DiffBassGcontrolsthegainofabassshelffilteronthedifferencesignal.Byboostingthelow
frequencycomponentsofthedifferencesignal,youcanincreasethesense
ofacoustic
envelopment.Rangeis‐79.0to24.0dB.
DiffBassFisthetransitionfrequencyforthebassshelffrequency.Rangeis16to25088Hz.
