WiththeClockSourceparameter,youcansetthePC3Ktogenerateitsowntempobysetting
ClockSourcetoInternal,oryoucansetthePC3Ktosyncupwiththetempofromanother
device—assumingthedeviceissendingMIDIclockdatatothePC3KviaMIDIorUSB—by
settingClockSourcetoExternal.SeeImportantNoteAboutExternalSequencers: on page 12‐8for
relatedinformation.
TEMPO
PresstheTEMPOsoftbuttontogototheTEMPOpage(seebelow.)WhentheClockSource
parameterissettoInternal(seeClockSource on page 11‐10,)theTempoparameteronthe
TEMPOpagesetsthePC3K’ssystemtempo.Thesystemtemposetsthetempoforallmodes
exceptSetupMode,
whichhasitsowntemposettings.Also,inSongmode,changingtoanew
songwilloverridethesystemtempo.TheTempoparametervaluesareinunitsofBPM(beats
perminute).
YoucanalsocalluptheTEMPOpagefromanyotherpagebypressingtheleftandrightcursor
buttonssimultaneously.
SettheTempoparameterwiththe‐/+buttons,theAlphaWheel,orthealphanumericpad.You
canalsosetthesystemtempobytappingtheTapsoftbuttonatthedesiredspeed.Youneedto
tapatleasttwiceforatempotobecalculated,thoughtappingseveraltimes
(likeoneachbeatof
oneormoremeasures)worksbest.Thenewlytappedtempoisdisplayedinthetempofield,and
alongthebottomfourProgramCategorySelectbuttonsalitLEDmovesfromlefttorightatthis
tempo.
Alternatively,atemporarycontrollercanbesetforuse
intheTemporaryTAPcontrollerfield,
insteadofusingtheTapsoftbutton.TheTemporaryTAPcontrollerfieldlistsgroupsofPC3K
controllersinorderoftheirusefulnessfortapping.Listedfirstarethe footswi tchesand switch
buttons(thoughitwouldbeeasiertousetheTapsoftbuttonthan
setatemporaryswitch
button.)AftertheseisNoteOn,whichletsyoutapthetempowithanykeyboardkey.Lastare
theMIDIcontrollernumbers,whichincludesallofthecontinuouscontrollers,though
continuouscontrollers(suchasaslider)arenoteasyorrecommendedfortappingthetempo.
The
TemporaryTAPcontrollerworksonlywhileontheTEMPOpageandwillremainselected
whenaccessingtheTEMPOpagefromothermodes,buttheselectionwillreturntoOFFthenext
timethePC3Kisturnedon.
Youcanalsoassignacontrollertocontrollerdestination168,TapTempo,tobe
usedasatap
tempobuttonwhennotviewingtheTEMPOpage.Forthosewhofrequentlyusetaptempo,this
isatimesavingadditiontoanysetuporcontrolsetup(seeChapter 7 ,SetupModeformoreon
