ASRsarethreesectionunipolarenvelopes—attack,sustain,andrelease.ThePC3K’sASRscan
betriggeredbyaprogrammablecontrolsource,andcanbedelayed.ASR1isalwaysalocal
control.ASR2islocalbydefault,butbecomesglobaliftheGlobalsparameterontheCOMMON
pageissettoOn.
ASRsarefrequently usedtorampthedepthofpitchoramplitudeinavibrato
ortremolo,enablingdelaysinthoseeffects.TheASRpageconsistsoftworowsoffive
parameters,onerowforeachoftheASRs.
Trigger
ThisdefinesthecontrolsourcethatstartsthecurrentlayersASRs.TheASRstartswhenthe
triggerswitchesfromofftoon.IftheTriggerparameterissettoON,aglobalASRstartsrunning
immediatelywhenyouselectaprogramthatcontainsit.AlocalASRstartsrunningas
soonas
youtriggeranoteinthelayerthatcontainsit.SwitchcontrolsarebettersuitedforASRtriggers
becauseoftheirbinary(on/off)nature.Acontinuouscontrolwilltriggerthe ASRswhenits
signalvalueisaboveitsmidp oint.
Mode
ThisparametersetsthesustainsectionoftheASR.TheASR’smodedetermineswhattheASR
doeswhenitfinishesitsattacksection.IftheModeparameterissettoNormal,theASRwillrun
directlyfromitsattacksectiontoitsreleasesection(nosustain).Atasettingof
Repeat,theASR
willcyclethroughtheatt ackand releasesections,thenloopforwardandcyclethroughagain
untiltheASR’striggerswitchesoff.IfthemodeissettoHold,theASRmaintainsitspositionat
theendoftheattacksectionuntiltheASR’striggerswitchesoff.The
ASRthengoesintoits
releasesection.IftheASR’striggerswitchesoffbeforetheattacksectioniscomplete,theASR
goesdirectlytoitsreleasesection.
Delay
WhentheASR’striggerswitcheson,theASRwillstartimmediatelyifthisparameterissetto
zero.NonzerovalueswillcauseacorrespondingdelaybetweentheASRtriggerandthestartof
theASR.
