Entry (Ent) and Exit Values
Entryvalueallowsyoutospecifyaninitialvalueforacontrollerinasetupthatwillbesent
wheneveryouselectthatsetup.Forexample,ifyouwanttomakesurethatallofthemodulation
inazoneisturnedoffwhenyouselectasetup,assigna
physicalcontrollertoadestinationof
MIDI01(MWheel)andsetEntryValueto0.
Entryvaluesignorethecurrentpositionofthephysicalcontrollerwhenthesetupisselected.In
fact,ifthephysicalcontrollerisaboveorbelowtheentryvaluewhenthesetupisselected
(whichitoften
is),movingthecontrollerwillhavenoeffectuntilitispastitsentryvalue.Inthe
modulationexampleabove,movingtheassignedcontrollerwon’tturnonanymodulationuntil
it’spushedallthewaydown,andthenupagain.
AnentryvalueofNoneisquitedifferentfromavalue
of0.Nonemeansthattherewillbeno
initialcontrollercommandwhenthesetupisselected,andanysubsequentmovementofthe
physicalcontrollerwillbeeffective.
ExitValuetellsthePC3Ktosendavalueforthatcontrollerwheneveryouleavethesetup,either
byselectinganothersetup
orbyselectingadifferentmodealtogether.Itcanbeveryusefulwhen
acontrollerisdoingsomethingtothesound,andyoudon’twantthateffecttocontinueafteryou
leavethesetup.Forexample,ifyouwanttomakesureazone’spitchreturnstonormal
wheneveryouleave
asetup,youwouldsetExitValueto64foranycontrollerwhoseDestination
parameterissettoPitchUp.Again,Nonemeansnocommandissent.
Switch Controller Parameters
Switch(physical)controllershaveonlytwostates:onandoff.ThePC3Kswitchcontrollersare:
•PanelSwitchesArpandSW
• FootswitchPedals1,2,and 3
• ProgrammableSwitches1–8(ProgramSelectbuttons1–8)
KeepinmindthefollowingtwothingswhenworkingwiththePC3K’sswitches.First,the
buttonsabovethesliders
arededicatedtozonestatusandmuting,aswellassequencermuting,
andarenotassignablecontrollers.Second,inProgrammode,theProgramSelectbuttons
functionasprogramselectbuttonsifnoneofthemareassignedinthecontrolsetup;ifatleast
oneProgrammableSwitchisassignedinthe
controlsetup,thentheassignedProgramSelect
buttonsactasassigned,butnoneofthebuttonsfunctionasprogramselectbuttons.
Switch Type (Type)
Theparametersforswitchcontrollersareslightlydifferentfromthoseforcontinuous
controllers.ThefirstparameterisType.ThechoicesavailableareMomentaryinwhicha
switch’sactionlastsonly
aslongasyouarepushingit,andToggle,inwhichtheswitch’saction
lastsuntilyoupressitagain.
Momentarymodeisusedforfunctionslikesustainorportamento,whileTogglemodeisused
forfunctionssuchasarpegg iatoron/off.Thebuttonsshowwhichmodetheyareinby
the
behavioroftheirlights:ifabuttonisinM o mentary mode,itslightglowsonlyaslongasyouare
holdingit,whileifitisinTogglemode,thelightstaysonuntilyoupressitagain.Bearinmind
thatbuttonassignmentsareindependentperzone,andsince
there’sjustasinglelightper
button,thelightshowsthestateofthebuttononlyforthecurrentzone.Whenyoupressthe
button,however,itexecutesitsassignmentsforallzonesthatusethatbutton.
On Control (OnControl)
OnControldetermineswhatMIDIControllerorothermessagewillbesentwhenthe
switchis
on—thatis,eitherpressedandheldortoggledfromtheoff position.Thelistofavailable
controllersonpage 7 ‐22isthesameasforthecontinuouscontrollers,andcanbeaccessedthe
sameway.
