Velocity Offset
VelOffsetalsochangestheresponse,butinamoredirectway,byaddingorsubtractinga
constanttothekeyvelocity.Forexample,ifthisissetto25(assumingascaleof100%),then25is
addedtothevelocityofeverykeystroke,usuallymakingthesoundthatmuchlouder.
The
softestpossiblekeystrokewillhaveavalueof25,whileakeystrokewithvelocityof102will
producethesamesoundasanotewithvelocity127(102+25=127).Negativevaluesdiminishthe
response:asettingof25meanstheloudestvelocityavailablewillbe102,whileanykeystroke
25
orbelowwillproduceavelocityof1(avelocityvalueofzerohasaspecialmeaninginMIDI
andcannotbeusedforNoteOns).
YoucanthinkofScaleasbeingaproportionalchangetothevelocity,whileOffsetisalinear
change.ThemaximumvaluesforOffsetare
±127.Thefollowingillustrationshowstheeffectsof
VelocityOffset.NotethatVelocityOffsetistheonlyparameterchangedinthisexample;the
otherparametersaresettotheirdefaults(scale=100%,curve=linear,min=1,max=127).
