Local Keyboard Channel
ThelocalkeyboardchannelenablesthePC3KtoreceiveMIDIinformationonasinglechannel,
thenrechannelizethatinformationsoyoucanplayandcontrolall16zonesofasetup,evenif
yourMIDIsourcetransmitsononlyonechannel.Whenyou’reinProgrammode,thelocal
keyboardchannel
remapsincominginformationtothePC3K’scurrentchannel(theoneshown
inthetoplineofthedisplay).
TheLocalKbdparameter(ontheRECEIVEpageinMIDImode)definesthelocalkeyboard
channel.Whenyou’ reinProgrammode,andplayingaKB3program,youmaywanttoleave
LocalKbdsetto
None,whichisitsdefaultvalue.InthiscasetheMIDIControllermessagesfor
KB3controllistedinTable 6‐3 arecertaintowork.
Therearesomepossibledisadvantagestothis,however.First,thePC3Kdoesn’trelayincoming
MIDItoitsMIDIOutport.Perhapsmoreimportantly,ifyouchangethe
channelonyourMIDI
source,thePC3KplaystheprogramonthechannelusedbyyourMIDIsource—regardlessof
thePC3K’scurrentchannel.Forexample,ifyourMIDIsourcetransmitsonChannel1,andyou
setthePC3K’scurrentchannelto2,you’llstillplaytheprogramassignedtoChannel
1.Ifthat’s
thewayyoulikeit,there’snoproblem.
