CVFE
Coding Violation Far-End — An indication returned to the transmitting terminal
that an errored block has been detected at the receiver terminal of a terminal
other than the one to which you are physically connected.

DACS III-2000
Digital Access and Cross-Connect System that provides clear channel switching
at either the DS3 or the STS-1 rates, eliminating the need for manual DSXs.
DACS IV-2000
Digital Access and Cross-Connect System that provides electronic DS3/STS-1 or
DS1/VT1.5 cross-connect capability, eliminating the need for manual DSXs.
DCC
Data Communications Channel — The embedded overhead communications
channel in the SONET line. It is used for end-to-end communications and mainte-
nance. It carries alarm, control, and status information between network elements
in a SONET network.
DCE
Data Communications Equipment — In a data station, the equipment that pro-
vides the signal conversion and coding between the Data Terminating Equipment
(DTE) and the line. The DCE may be separate equipment or an integral part of the
DTE or of intermediate equipment. A DCE may perform other functions usually
performed at the network end of the line.
