4. Remove the two fasteners retaining the thermostat
cover.
NOTE
The front fastener
t
is accessible through the cargo
box access panel.
The rear fastener
y
is accessible through the
passenger side with a wrench.
5. Remove the thermostat cover and hose to access the
thermostat
u
. Pull the thermostat up to remove it
from the housing.
6. Install new thermostat into the housing.
IMPORTANT
Installing the thermostat upside down will damage the
thermostat and lead to engine overheating.
7. Install thermostat cover. Torque fasteners to
specification.
TORQUE
Thermostat Cover Fasteners:
7 ft-lb (10 Nm)
8. Install the exhaust heat shield. Torque fasteners to
specification.
TORQUE
Heat Shield Fasteners:
8 ft-lb (11 Nm)
9. Fill the cooling system and properly bleed the engine
cooling system. See Cooling System Bleeding, page
2.38.
