USING THE DS-562NC AND DS-562I END-TO-END
The DS-562NC is fully compatible with the DS-562I at either 64 Kbps or 56 Kbps. The
addressing feature is also compatible.
RS-449, RS-530 HARDWARE LOOPBACK “PLUGS”
ONLY the data lines are “looped”. The Timing lines must not be looped back because the DS-
562NC provides both transmit and receive clocks in the DCE mode.

“Looped Signals”: Send Data + (Pin 4) > Receive Data + (Pin 6)
Send Data - (Pin 22) > Receive Data - (Pin 24)

Send Data + (Pin 2) > Receive Data + (Pin 3)
Send Data - (Pin 14) > Receive Data - (Pin 16)
In addition, there is no guarantee that the TxData will be valid on the positive edge of the
TxClock. Data errors may occur if data is sampled near the edge instead of the center of the data
bit. It is therefore recommended that a “split” cable be used for testing purposes such that one end
“sends data” and the other end “receives data’. Confirm both directions by switching the cable
ends.
