IMUX 2000 Variable Video System
OVERVIEW
The IMUX Variable Video System is a two module set that allows transmission of standard video signals
over the IMUX 2000. One of the modules, the VS-100, accepts standard NTSC or PAL video and
compresses it for transmission. The other module, the DS64NC, multiplexes the signal onto the T1 path
and provides for remote programmability of the data rate. A matching set of modules at the receiver de-
multiplexes and uncompresses the video. The output of the receiver can be connected to any standard
video monitor.
The VVS occupies up to 3 card slots and can use from 1 to 31 timeslots on the T1 or E1 stream. The
resolution and quality of the video is set using switches on the VS 100 module. The bandwidth occupied
by the system determines the frame rate and is set either through switches on the DS64NC or remotely
using the NMS software. The data rate can be changed dynamically to match the requirements of the user.
COMPONENTS
The IMUX Variable Video System contains the following components:
VS100 (106870)
An IMUX channel card (two slots wide) that carries the video Codec. It is a mounting and
interconnection board. There is one bank of switches on the board to select video settings. In addition
there are two toggle switches. These settings are not remotely programmable.
MA800 (106875)
This Module Adapter plugs in opposite the VS100. It is also a double width module. It has 3 BNC
connectors, one DB9, and a two position terminal block. Only one BNC is currently active. It is the
video input or output depending on the Codec settings. The DB9 is the RS449 connection into the
DS64NC. The terminal block will be for external power when required.
DS64NC (9547-1686)
The DS64NC is used to transport the RS449 data over the T1. The speed of the video will be set by
the settings on this module (remotely programmable).
MA412 (9547-1731)
This is the standard RS449 Module Adapter for the DS64NC.
Video System Cable (106880)
A cable is supplied for inter connection between the MA800 and MA412.
It is about 6” long with a DB9 on one end and a DB37 on the other end.
