p0290
Power unit overload response
(Factory setting for inverters with Power Module PM260: p0290 = 0;
factory setting for all other SINAMICS G120 inverters: p0290 = 2.
Cannot be changed for inverters with Power Modules PM330.
0 The behavior of the inverter depends on the set control mode:
• Vector control: Reduce output current.
• U/f control: Reduce the speed.
1 When the overload threshold is reached, the inverter cuts off the motor with fault
2 The behavior of the inverter depends on the set
control mode:
• Vector control: Reduce the pulse frequency and
output current.
• U/f control: Reduce the pulse frequency and
speed.
Recommended setting for drives with square-law
The inverter reduces the
pulse frequency when the
overload threshold is
reached. The current limit
of the output current
remains unchanged

.
12 The behavior of the inverter depends on the set
control mode:
• Vector control: Reduce the pulse frequency and
output current.
• U/f control: Reduce the pulse frequency and
speed.
If the inverter reduces the
pulse frequency when the
overload threshold is
reached, it increases the
current limit
1)
of the output
current at the same time.
13 Reduce pulse frequency.
Recommended setting for drives with high starting
torque, e.g. horizontal conveyors or extruders.

Power unit temperature warning threshold
(factory setting: Heat sink [0] 5 °C, power
semiconductor [1] 15 °C)
The value is set as a difference to the shutdown temperature.
Power unit warning at I2t overload (factory setting: 95%)
If you have increased the pulse frequency of the inverter (parameter p1800), the inverter reduces
the current limit of the output current according to a derating table stored in the inverter.
