7.11 Shutdown
7.11.1 Preserving the machine for tempo-
rary shutdown
In order to prevent damage (corro-
sion, etc.) being sustained in stor-
age during shutdown periods last-
ing longer than three months, cer-
tain preservation measures must be
taken.
Preservation measures:
â–º
We recommend keeping the machine in a
dry, dust-free room during the storage pe-
riod.
â–º
Clean the inside and outside of the ma-
chine thoroughly, including the engine.
â–º
Lubricate the machine according to the
lubrication schedule.
â–º
Check the oil levels of all assemblies such
as transmissions, etc., and top up if neces-
sary.
â–º
Check the hydraulic fluid level and top up if
necessary.
â–º
Repair paint damage.
â–º
Fill the diesel tank in order to prevent cor-
rosion of the tank walls.
â–º
Check the antifreeze level in the coolant
and adjust if necessary.
â–º
Perform all the preservation measures
listed in the diesel engine operating instruc-
tions.
â–º
Treat the bare piston rods of the hydraulic
cylinders with a commercially available cor-
rosion protection agent.
â–º
Remove and clean the batteries and store
them as specified in a dry room that does
not freeze during winter. Coat connections
with pole grease.
â–º
Seal off the air intake opening of the air
cleaner system and the exhaust pipe open-
ing.
