From here the user can,
1. start/stop the service
2. uninstall the service
3. add and delete monitored paths
4. change the location of the logging root directory
5. change the configuration file
(the logging service may not start correctly if this is changed)
Monitored Paths
These are directories that the service will monitor for user program changes. By default
the Q4 program directory is added for you. You may delete this line, and add your own
program locations. These may be on network drives for certain network operating
systems, currently know supported systems are any SAMBA or CIFS platform including
Windows Server.
Logging root
This is the path where the log file for the system, and all program archives are kept.
This should be in a secure location, accessible by administrators only. If the location is
not secure this will cause the system to be non-cfr11 compliant. This location may be on
a network device.
Final steps
Once the configuration is complete, the user may start the service by pressing the “Start
Service” button. The service is installed to start automatically; this may be changed by
an administrator using the Microsoft Machine console.
b. Security Configuration of System
Security must be maintained for CFR11 compliance. What this entails, is that each user
that can run programs on the system must have a unique user ID. These ID’s may be
local or domain ID’s. Users that configure the service MUST be in the local
administrators group for the machine running the logging service.
The logging directory should be set to only allow administrators read write delete
access. It is ok from a CFR11 point of view to allow all users read access but this is up
to the local policy.
