10.0 File Management
This section requires that the user has a System Administrator's level of
expertise.
File sharing and security is controlled by the Window's operating system. The
Command System application reads the file's or folder's security settings against the
user's privileges and if the user has read only privileges they will not be allowed to
change the data.
The following data files are used or generated by the Command System application:
Q4SOFTCFG.DAT - Quadra 4's configuration/operating environment settings. This file
is created and maintained via the Options Menu, and can be shared between identical
machines.
The default location for this file is in the application's root folder, C:\Program
Files\Tomtec\Quadra 4 Command System v4.
Q4SYSPARM.DAT - Quadra 4's hardware settings. This file is created and maintained
via the System Menu , this file is unique to the machine and cannot be shared. It can be
saved in either another folder or on a server providing that the folder is owned by the
machine.
The default location for this file is in the application's root folder, C:\Program
Files\Tomtec\Quadra 4 Command System v4.
QCURVEDB.DAT - Quadra 4's pump calibration tables. This file is created and
maintained via the Pump Calibration Tables utility under the Utilities Menu , this file is
unique to the machine and cannot be shared. It can be saved in either another folder or
on a server providing that the folder is owned by the machine. The default location for
this file is in the application's database folder, C:\Program Files\Tomtec\Quadra
4 Command System v4\Database. A work around for sharing the Curved is
described in the File Management - Curve Database section.
Q4PLATEDB.DAT - Quadra 4's plate and reservoir database. This file is created on the
initial application installation by copying Q4PLATEDB.NEW to Q4PLATEDB.DAT and is
maintained via the Database Menu . Once this is done the plate database will NOT be
overwritten by any application upgrades. This file can be shared between any model
Quadra 4, and it can also be saved to either a local folder or on a server. The default
location for this file is in the application's database folder.
Q4FIXTUREDB.DAT - Quadra 4's fixture database. This file is created on the initial
application installation by copying Q4FIXTUREDB.NEW to Q4FIXTUREDB.DAT and is
maintained via the Database Menu . Once this is done the plate database will NOT be
overwritten by any application upgrades. This file can be shared between any model
Quadra 4, and it can also be saved to either a local folder or on a server.
