5. OPERATION FOR TESTS
3 Check the horizontal aniseikonia.
When the patient sees the test chart through the polarized filter, the center fixation target
is seen by both eyes as shown below. In addition, the upper half is seen by the right eye
and the lower half, by the left eye.
When the patient does not have horizontal aniseikonia, he/she sees the upper and lower
images in the same size.
When the patient has horizontal aniseikonia, he/she sees the upper and lower images in
different sizes.
4 Record the horizontal aniseikonia degree.
Have the patient answer whether the upper and lower images are different in size. If
yes, have the patient view the opening of the upper and lower images and answer how
much the lines are different in relation to each other.
When the disparity at one side is about half a line, the patient should answer "half a line".
When it is about one line, the patient should answer "one line".
When the upper image is larger than the lower one by one line, click the [U>D 1.0] button
to record the value.
When the upper image is larger than the lower one by half a line, click the [U>D 0.5] but-
ton to record the value.
When the lower image is larger than the upper one by one line, click the [U<D 1.0] button
to record the value.
When the lower image is larger than the upper one by half a line, click the [U<D 0.5] but-
ton to record the value.
When the upper and lower images are the same size, click the [U=D] button to record
the value.
When disparity of half a line is recognized, the magnification is different by 3.5%
between the images of the right and left eyes. When disparity of one line is recognized,
it is different by 7.0%.
