1. Safety
To prevent battery explosion
• Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly installed.
• Replace only w ith the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer.
• For disposal of used batteries, always consult federal, state, local a nd provincial hazardous waste disposal rules and regulations
to ensure proper disposal.
To prevent projector damage
• The air filters of the projector must be cleaned or replaced on a regular basis. Cleaning the booth area would be monthly-
minimum. Neglecting this could result in disrupting the air flow inside the projec tor, causing overhea ting. Overheating may lead
to the projector shutting down during operation.
• The pr ojector m ust always b e installed in a manner which ensures free flow of air into its air inlets.
• If more than o ne projector is installed in a c omm on projection booth, the exhaust air flow requirements are valid for EACH
individual projector system. Note that inadequate air extraction or cooling will result in decreased life expectancy of the projector
as a whole as w ell as causing prem ature failure of the lasers.
• In order to ens ure that correct airflow is maintained, and that the projector complies with E lectromagnetic Compatibility (EMC )
and safety requirements, it s hould always be operated with all of it’s covers in place.
• Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation. To ensure r eliable operation of the product and to protect it from
overheating, these openings mus t not be blocked or covered. The openings should never be blocked by placing the product
on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface. This product should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register. The
device shou ld not be placed in a built-in installation or enclosure unless pro per ventilation is pr ovided.
• Ensure that nothing can be spilled on, or dropped inside the projector. If this does ha ppen, switch o
ff and rem ove all pow er
from the projector. Do not operate the projector again until it has been checked by qualified service personnel.
• Do not block the pr ojector cooling fans o r free air movement around the projector. Loose papers or other objects may not be
nearer to the projector than 10 cm (4") on any side.
• Proper oper ation of the projec tor can only be guar anteed in table mounting. It is not permitted to use the projector in another
position. See installation proce dure for correct installation.
• Special care for Laser B eam s: Special c are should be used when DLP projectors are used in the same room as high power
laser equipment. D irect or indirect hitting of a laser beam on to the lens can severely damage the Digital Mirror De vices
TM
in
which case there is a loss of warranty.
• Never place the projector in direct sunlight. Sunlight on the lens can se
verely dama ge the Digital Mirror Devices
TM
in which
case there is a loss of warranty.
• Save the original shipping carton and packing material. They will come in handy if you ever have to ship your equipm ent. For
maximum protection, repack y our set as it was originally packed at the factory.
• Remove all power from the projec tors m ains terminals before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a
damp cloth for cleaning. Neve r use strong so lvents, such as thinner or benzine or abrasive cleaners, s ince these will dam age
the cabinet. S tubborn stains may be remov ed with a cloth lightly dampened with m ild detergent solution.
• To ensure the highest optical performance and reso lution, the projection lenses are specially treated with an anti-reflective
coating, therefore, avoid touching the lens. To remove dust on t he lens, use a soft dry cloth. For lens c leaning follow the
instructions precisely as stipulated in the projector manual.
• Rated maximum ambient temperature, t
a
= 35°C (95°F).
• Rated humidity = 5% to 85% R H N on-condensed Non-co ndensed.
• An external frame must be used to stack projectors.
• For functionality a nd reliability, the projector requires a ccurate temperature control and c ooling. Therefore a liquid cooling sys-
tem is provided consisting of liquid circuits ins ide the projector w hich are c onnected via hoses to ex ternal coolers. Only cooler
models and hoses ex clusively developed for this application and approve d by Barco are allowed to be used.
• When us ing the projector with a stand alone cooler, do not stand on the cooling tubes or do not place any object on the tubes
so that free liquid flow can be guaranteed. Position the tubes so that there is no contact w ith hot surfaces.
On servicing
• Do not attempt to service this pr oduct yourself, as o pening or removing cov ers may e xpose you to dan gerous voltage p otentials
and risk of electric s hock.
• Refer all servicing to qualified s ervice personnel.
• Attempts to alter the factory-set internal controls or to change other control settings not specially discussed in this manual c an
lead to per manent damage to the projector and cancellation of the warranty.
• Remove all po wer from the projector and r efer s ervicing to qualified service technicians under the following conditions:
- When the power cord or plug is da maged or frayed.
- If liquid has bee n spilled into the equipment.
- If the product has been exposed to rain or water.
- If the product does not operate norm ally wh en the operating instructions are followed. Adjust only those controls that are
covered by the operating instructions since improper adjustment of the other controls may result in damage and will often
require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to normal operation.
- If the product has been dropped or the cabinet has been dam aged.
- If the product exhibits a distinct chang e in performance, indicating a need for service.
