3. Check the “air in” side of the dust filter for dust and/or grease.
In case the filter is contaminated with grease w ash and dry the dust filter. S ee cleaning procedur
e "Washing and drying the dust
filters", page 143.
In case the filter contains dust but does n’t feel greasy then clean these filters with compressed air. These filters are not fragile
and this method is mor e easier.
If an air compressor is not available, use vacuum to clean the dust filter. See procedure "Vac uum cleaning of the dust filters",
page 142.
Note: Grease on the filter can build up after s everal months in an environm ent contaminated with gr
easy air. Note that areas
where popcorn is consumed are s ubject to greasy air.
Tip: Take into account that the time ne eded to dry the dust filters may be 24 h ours or more. For that, it’s recommended to
have a second set of dust filters which can be used while cleaning the first set.
4. While the filters are removed, pivot the cooling unit to check t he fans for dust. R emov e that dust if necessary.
Note: Do not neglect this step. Removing dust from the fans must b e checked/cleaned regularly. Pay special attention to
cleaning these fans if the cooler is installed above the projector bec ause, due to the heat, this location has a greatest
potential for dust ac cumulation.
5. Insert a clean dust filter and mount cov er plate.
14.4 Vacuum cleaning of the dust filters
When vacuum the dust filters?
The dust filters should be ch ecked every m onth. If the filters are contam inated with dust then cleaning the filters with a v acuum
cleaner should be suffi cient. In case t he filters feel greasy these must be washed. See cleaning procedure "Washing and drying the
dust filters", page 143.
Grease on the filter ca n build up a fter several months in an en vironment contam inated with greasy air. Note
that areas where popcorn is consum ed are subje
ct to g reasy air.
This p rocedure assumes that the du st filters are removed from their slots.
Necessary tools
Vacuum cleaner with soft brush suction nuzzle.
How to vacuum-clean the dust filter?
1. Carefully vacuum the air inlet side of the dust filter. Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush suction nuzzle. The air inlet side of
the dust filter is the side which is surrounded with a glue edge.
Tip: Lightly tap the filter on its dusty side to expel heavy dust co ntamination.
Tip: Compressed air is also permitted to clean the filters but take care no t to dam age them.
Caution: Do not d amage the dust filter. R eplace damaged dust filters immediately.
