File Transfer Services
You can configure the system to transfer files over the network using File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

The following list includes the configuration tasks for file transfer services:

Enable FTP server
To make the system an FTP server: 
Display your FTP configuration using the command 
show running-config ftp from EXEC Privilege mode, 
as shown in Figure 4-4.

Configure FTP server parameters
To configure FTP server parameters:

Make the system an FTP server.
ftp-server enable

Specify the directory for users using FTP to reach the 
system. The default is the internal flash.
ftp-server topdir dir CONFIGURATION 
Specify a user name for all FTP users and configure either 
a plain text or encrypted password. Configure the 
following optional and required parameters:
• username: Enter a text string
• encryption-type: Enter 0 for plain text or 7 for 
encrypted text.
• password: Enter a text string.
ftp-server username username 
password [encryption-type]
