DialServ Network Settings parameters
The DialServ card may be configured to use PPP as the protocol to connect to the remote peer and
as such should be assigned a free PPP instance to use as part of the configuration. If no PPP
instance has been assigned and the module has been configured to use PPP, a link to the PPP
mappings page and message appear.
If a PPP instance has been assigned, the following configuration options appear:
This DialServ interface is using PPP n
The PPP instance (n) the DialServ card uses.
Description
A short string that describes the interface, which you can use as a convenience when referring to
the interface.
Dial out using numbers
The telephone numbers to use in making an outgoing connection, in sequence. Use these
numbers to provide a dialback facility.
Prefix n to the dial out number
The dialing prefix to use, if needed. This may be necessary when using a PABX.
Username
The username to use when using the PPP instance to connect to the remote peer.
Password
The password to use for authenticating the remote peer; specified in conjunction with the
Username.
Confirm Password
Type the password into this text box to enable the router to confirm that the password has been
entered identically in both boxes.
Allow the remote device to assign a local IP address to this router
When this radio button is selected, the remote peer will assign this PPP interface an IP address.
Try to negotiate a.b.c.d as the local IP address for this router
If it would be useful, but not essential, to have a predefined IP address for the interface, the
second radio button should be selected and the desired IP address entered into the text box to
the right.
Use a.b.c.d as the local IP address for this router
If it is essential that the PPP interface has a specific IP address, this radio button should be
selected and the IP address entered into the text box.
