Digi TransPort WR Routers User Guide 346
Network Services parameters
Enable Device Discovery Protocol (ADDP)
When enabled, the router uses Advanced Digi Discovery Protocol (ADDP), a Digi-proprietary
protocol for discovering devices on a network.
Enable Realport
When enabled, the router uses RealPort,
patented RealPort COM/TTY port redirection
software for Microsoft Windows.
Enable Encrypted Realport
When enabled, the router uses
RealPort software with encryption. Encrypted RealPort offers
a secure
Ethernet connection between the COM or TTY port and a device server or terminal
server. Encryption prevents internal and external snooping of data across the network by
encapsulating the TCP/IP packets in a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection and encrypting the
data using
Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).
Enable Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
Enables and disables remote management of the router using SNMP. This setting does not
actually directly control the SNMP functionality, but enables or disables the remaining SNMP
controls on this page. To perform detailed configuration, including setting up command filters,
users and SNMP traps, go to Configuration > Remote Management > SNMP.
Note Simply clicking on this setting may not be sufficient to allow this service to start working.
Depending upon the SNMP version selected below, additional configuration may be
required.
UDP Port n
The standard UDP port for SNMP is 161, the default. If you require a different port, enter the port
number into the text entry box.
Enable SNMP v1
When enabled, the router uses SNMP version 1.
Enable SNMP v2c
When enabled, the router uses SNMP version 2c.
Enable SNMP v3
When enabled, the router uses SNMP version 3.
Enable Simple Network Timer Server (SNTP)
When enabled, the router acts as a Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) time server.
