12.1.1 Hypotension Probability P(↓BP)
The P(↓BP) value will update every 20 seconds and displays as a percentage equating to the probability that
a hypotensive event may occur. The higher the percentage value, the higher the probability that a hypotensive
event (MAP < 65 mmHg for at least one minute) will occur. Table 12-2 provides a detailed explanation of
P(↓BP) graphical display elements: trendline, dial segment (cockpit display), audible alarms, parameter value
(globe display) and interpretation, and proposed user action when P(↓BP) is configured as a key parameter.
WARNING The Hypotension Probability Indicator feature, P(↓BP), should not be used exclusively
to treat patients. A review of the patient’s hemodynamics is recommended prior to initi-
ating treatment.
NOTE If P(↓BP) is displayed on the Information Bar the graphical display element changes will
not change color nor alarm. Instead the user will only be notified when P(↓BP) exceeds
85% for consecutive updates by displaying the P(↓BP) High Alert Popup.

elements Audible General interpretation User action
P(↓BP) ≤50
Green None Patient hemodynamics are
probably stable and there is
a low probability of a
hypotensive event occurring
Continue monitoring patient
hemodynamics
P(↓BP) >50 and ≤85
Yellow None Patient hemodynamics may
not be stable and there is a
moderate probability of a
hypotensive event occurring
