Extended shutdown C250 ... C370
Translation of Original Operating Manual 156319-04 251
Extended shutdown
If the vehicle is shut down for longer than 2 months
for operational reasons, for example, it must only
be parked in a well-ventilated, clean and dry space.
The following measures should be taken:
1. Clean vehicle thoroughly.
2. Check hydraulic oil levels, top up if necessary.
3. Furnish all unpainted mechanical components
with a thin film of oil or grease.
4. Lubricate vehicle.
5. Check condition and acid density of the bat-
tery, grease battery terminals with non-acidic
grease. (Observe battery manufacturer's
specifications.)
6. Remove battery and store in a frost-free, dry
space.
Engine preservation
1. Clean engine.
2. Run engine to operating heat.
3. Drain engine oil and fill with corrosion-protec-
tion oil.
4. Drain off some fuel and fill fuel tank with cor-
rosion-protection oil. Ratio: diesel fuel 90%,
corrosion-protection oil 10%.
5. Let engine run for 10 min.
6. Shut off engine.
7. Turn engine over several times by hand.
8. Plug intake opening and exhaust opening.
ADVICE
The vehicle must be jacked up suffi-
ciently that all wheels are off the floor.
This prevents a lasting deformation of
the tyres.
ADVICE
Do not use plastic film for covering as
this promotes the formation and accu-
mulation of condensation water.
