Flatness
See Figure 4-17 for the following procedure.
1. Lay the strap on a flat surface. Do not block or support
the strap, or it may sag.
2. Stretch a line (string or wire) across the top surface of
the strap from the pin storage hole at one end of the
strap.
3. Stretch the line as tight as possible and tie it off at the pin
storage hole on the other end.
4. Make sure that the line touches the top surface of the
strap at all points along its length.
5. If the line does not touch the strap, measure the distance
from the line to the strap.
If the deviation from straight is greater than the
maximum allowed, remove the strap from service.
6. Remove the line and turn the strap over.
7. Repeat step 1
through step 5.
Elongated Holes
See Figure 4-18 for the following procedure.
1. Insert the pin into the hole on the strap.
2. Push the pin tight against the edge of the hole along the
horizontal centerline. Measure the distance between the
pin and the hole (A).
3. Push the pin tight against the edge of the hole along the
vertical centerline. Measure the distance between the
pin and the hole (B).
If the dimensions are not identical, the hole is elongated.
Remove the strap from service.
If the dimensions are identical, but greater than 0,8 mm
(0.03 in), contact the Manitowoc Crane Care Lattice
