Erraticengagementcancauseenginestallingandpotential
seriousdamagetoyourvehicle’sdrivetraincomponents(such
asclutch,transmission,driveshaft(s),andrearaxle).
HydraulicClutchActuationSystem
Clutchbrakeengagementoccursinthelast2inches(50mm)
ofpedaltravelafterinitialclutchsetupadjustment.Clutchwear
willmovethepedalpositionatclutchbrakeengagementtoward
thephysicallimitoftravel.Thehydraulicclutchsystemmust
haveproperuidbleedingbeforeoperating,usuallyperformed
atthefactory,orateldservicing.Hydraulicclutchuidshould
bedrainedandrelledevery2yearsofserviceorafter200,000
miles(322,000km)serviceinterval.
CAUTION
Topreventvehicleand/orenginecomponent
damage,clutchpedalmustengageclutchbrake
beforethephysicallimitofpedaltravel.Whenthe
clutchpedalpositionatclutchbrakeengagement
islessthan0.5inch(12.7mm)fromthephysical
travellimit,manualclutchadjustmentisrequired
forallEaton
®
EasyPedal
®
(EP)clutches.
Ifnon-selfadjustingclutchesareusedinthisapplication,itis
importantthatclutchadjustmentsbemaintained.Adjustment
intervalsshouldbeevery20,000miles(32,000km).When
utilizinganEaton
®
EPclutchwithahydraulicclutchactuator,
thecabclutchpedalcannotbeusedtoindicatewhenclutch
adjustmentisrequired.Driversmaynotnoticetheneedfor
clutchadjustmentandcontinuetodriveinsuchcondition.Lack
ofadjustmentwilleventuallyleadtoyokeinterferencewiththe
clutchcovercausingextensiveclutchand/ortransmission
damage.
Whenusingtheclutchbrake,fullydepresstheclutchpedaland
shiftthetransmissionintoeitherrstorreversegear.Ifthe
transmissiondoesnotgointorstgearorreverse,toothbutting
maybeoccurring.Slowlyreleasetheclutchpedalwhileapplying
lightpressureontheshiftleveruntilthetransmissiongoesinto
gear.Thiswillprovideforasmoothshiftintoeitheraforwardor
reversegear.
NOTE:Afterengagementofrstgear,DONOTusethe
clutchbrakeforupshiftinganddownshifting.Todoso
willshortentheservicelifeoftheclutchbrake,andgear
selectionshifteffortsmaybeincreased.Clutchbrake
applicationoccursinthelast2inches(50mm)ofpedal
travel.
