Rotation
•Steertiresthathavedevelopedsometypeofirregular
wearpatterncanberotatedtodriveaxlesifribtiresare
beingusedonallwheelpositions.Applyingsteertiresto
adrivepositionwilloftenwearofftheirregularitiesand
theycanbemovedbacktothesteeraxlesorrunoutto
retreadstageontherearaxle.
•Anotherrotationpossibilityforeetswithribtiresinall
wheelpositionsistobreakinthenewsteertiresinthe
driveaxlepositions,thenmovethemtosteeraxles.This
willwearawaytreadrubberrelativelyquickintheearly
lifeofatirewhenitismostlikelytodevelopanunusual
wearpattern.
•Driveaxletiresmaybeplacedontheotherendofthe
sameaxlesothatdirectionofrotationisreversed.Thisis
oftenhelpfulifaheelandtoeoralternatewheelnutwear
patternhasdeveloped.
RotationIsAdvisable
1.Iffront(steering)axletiresbecomeirregularlyworn,
movetorearposition.
2.Inadualassembly,reversethepositionofthetiresif
onetirewearsmuchfasterthanitsmate.
3.Onthedriveaxle,ifheelandtoewearoralternatewheel
nutwearoccurs,rotatingthetiresfromoneendofthe
axletotheotherendoftheaxlemayhelpevenoutthis
wear.
