WARNING
Topreventpropertydamage,personalinjury,and
/ordeath,neverstarttheengineunlessyou're
surethetransmissionselectorisinNeutral
andthebrakeisapplied;otherwise,accidental
movementofthevehiclecanoccur.
CAUTION
Topreventstarterdamage,DONOTcrankthe
engineformorethan30secondsatatime;wait2
minutesaftereachtrytoallowthestartertocool.
NOTE:Beforestartingtheengine:
•ReadandunderstandtheControls/Featuressectionof
thismanual.
•Performtheleftandrightenginecompartment
inspectionsoutlinedintheInspectionGuidesectionof
thismanual.
•Ifyourvehiclehasanoptionalbatterydisconnect
switch,besurethatitisintheOnposition.Thisswitch
iscabmounted,ormountedonthebatterybox.
NOTE:AutomatedmanualtransmissionsmustbeinNeutral
andvehicleswithaclutchpedalrequiretheclutchpedalto
bedepressedbeforethestarterwillengage.
NOTE:Someautomatedtransmissionswilldelayengine
crankinguntilthetransmissionpower-upiscomplete.

Theignitionswitchhasfourkeypositionsasfollows:
1.ACC(Accessory)
2.OFF
3.ON
4.START
1.Applytheparkingbrakeandplacethetransmissionin
theNeutralposition.Ifequippedwithaclutchpedal,the
clutchpedalmustbedepressed.
2.TurnOFFtheheadlightsandallaccessories.
3.TurnthekeyclockwisetotheONposition.
