TamperingwithNoiseControlSystemProhibited
Federallawprohibitsthefollowingactsorthecausingthereof:
1.Removingorrenderinginoperativebyanyperson,
otherthanforpurposesofmaintenance,repair,
orreplacement,anydeviceorelementofdesign
incorporatedintoanynewvehicleforthepurposeof
noisecontrolpriortoitssaleordeliverytotheultimate
purchaserorwhileitisinuse.
2.Usingthevehicleaftersuchdeviceorelementofdesign
hasbeenremovedorrenderedinoperativebyany
person.
Amongthoseactspresumedtoconstitutetamperingaretheacts
listedasfollows:
1.AirIntakeSystem:Removingaircleaner,intake
silencer,orpiping.
2.AcousticalShielding(Body):Removingwheelwell
splashshields,cabshields,oracoustical(underhood)
insulation.
3.CoolingSystem:Removingorrenderinginoperativethe
fanclutchand/orfanshrouds.
4.EngineandDrivelineSystem:Removingorrendering
enginespeedgovernorinoperativesoastoallowengine
speedtoexceedmanufacturerspecications,and/or
engineblockshield,oilsumpshield,ortransmission
enclosures.
5.Changesinhardware,software,calibration,or
programmableparametersthatincreaseengine
operatingspeedorhorsepowerotherthanthose
providedbyNavistar,Inc.
6.ExhaustSystem:Removingorrenderinginoperative
exhaustsystemcomponents,includingmufer,
resonator,exhaustaftertreatmentcomponents,or
tailpipe.

Governmentmandatedstandardforall2013andlaterClass4
andabovevehicleswithaGrossVehicleWeightRating(GVWR)
of14,001poundsormore.TheHD-OBDsystemmonitorsthe
engineandaftertreatmentsystemstoverifytheyareoperating
withinemissionslimits.Ifanemissionsfaultislogged,the
MalfunctionIndicatorLamp(MIL)willilluminateandoneormore
faultcodeswillbeset.
TheHD-OBDsystemoperatessimilarlytopreviouspowertrain
controlsystemsbystoringfaultcodesandturningontheMIL.If
theproblemthatcausedthefaultgoesaway,thecodewillclear
