TheENGINEBRAKESELECTOR1/2/3switchisthen
usedtoadjusttheamountofbrakingapplied.
Usingenginebrakingfeaturescanextendbrakelining
life.Thefeaturesalsoallowthedrivertoslowthevehicledown
ormaintainaconstantspeedonsteeproadgradesthatwould
otherwiseresultinprolongeduseoftheservicebrake,which
couldcausebrakefade.RefertotheEngineOperationand
MaintenanceManualfordetailedinformationontheengine
brakingsystem.

WhentheTransmissionControlModule(TCM)detectsthe
enginebrakehasbeenenabled,itcommandsuseofa
preselectedshiftscheduleinordertoenhancetheenginebrake
performance.
