obtainexperttireservicehelp.Mountingand
demountingoftiresshouldonlybeperformed
byqualiedpersonnelusingnecessarysafety
proceduresandequipment.
1.BrakeChamberandHoses:Checkforcracked,wornor
frayedhoses,andforsecurecouplings.Checktosee
thatthebrakechambersarenotcrackedordentedand
thattheyaresecurelymounted.Checkforbroken,loose
ormissingparts.
2.SlackAdjuster:Checkslackadjusterandchamberpush
rodtravel.Whenpulledbyhand,pushrodshouldnot
movemorethanapproximately1inch.Anglebetween
pushrodandadjusterarmshouldbeapproximately90
degreeswhenbrakesareapplied.
3.BrakeLiningandDrum:Withbrakesreleased,check
toseethatbrakelinings(wherevisible)arenot
wornexcessivelythin(lessthan1/4inch[6mm])or
contaminatedbylubricant.
4.Frame:Checkforcracksorbendsinframe.Makesure
therearenoloose,cracked,bent,broken,ormissing
crossmembersorcrossmemberfasteners.
5.WheelandLugNuts:Checkfordamagedorbentwheel.
Checktoseethatalllugnutsarepresentandnotloose
(lookforrusttrailsaroundnuts).Ensurethatnocracks
ordamagearepresentatwheelmountholes.
6.Tires:Checktreaddepth,tireinationandnoteiftread
isevenlyworn.Minimumtreaddepthis2/32inchonall
drivetires.Lookforcutsorotherdamagetothetread
andsidewalls.Seeifvalvecapsandstemsaremissing,
brokenordamaged.Checkdualspacingtoensurethat
dualwheelsareevenlyseparated,andthattiresarenot
touchingoneanother.
