ParkingBrakeIndicator
WARNING
Topreventpropertydamage,personalinjury,and
/ordeath,avoiddrivingwiththeparkingbrakes
applied,whichcanleadtoexcessiveheatbuildup
andpossiblere.
TheParkingBrakeindicatorisoperatedinconjunctionwiththe
parkingbrake.Withtheignitionswitchonandtheparkingbrake
set,thePARKindicatorwillilluminate.Iftheindicatordoes
notilluminatewiththeparkingbrakeset,theindicatormaybe
inoperative.
BobtailProportioningSystem
Bobtailproportioningisavailablewithtractorairbrakesystems
(forexportonlywithcode04092)withorwithoutABSorABS
/TractionControlSystems.Theproportioningvalvesenses
whentrailerbrakesarenotconnectedtothevehicleairbrake
system,andautomaticallyadjustsrearbrakingpowerwhen
operatinginthebobtailmode,thenreturnsfullbrakingpower
whenatrailerisattached.Whenoperatinginthebobtail
mode,bobtailproportioningprovidesmorebrakingcontroland
shorterstoppingdistances,particularlyonwetandslipperyroad
surfaces.
Itshouldbenotedthatthereisanoticeablydifferentbrakepedal
feelontractorswiththisfeaturewhileoperatinginthebobtail
mode.Higherbrakepedaleffortswillbeexperiencedbythe
driverthanwheninabrakesystemwithoutbobtailproportioning.

limits.ABScannotcompensateforavehicle
thatisbeingdrivenbeyondthephysicallimits
ofcontrol.DriversoperatinganABSequipped
vehicleshouldemploysafedrivingpracticesand
assumenoadditionaldrivingrisks.

TheABSisamandatedfeatureaddedtothestandardairbrake
system.Itelectronicallymonitorsvehiclewheelspeedatall
times,andengagesonlywhenwheellockisimminent.The
standardairbrakesystemcontrolsnormalbrakingwhentheABS
isnotengaged.
