GeneralInformation
Thecontrols/featuresenablethedrivertomonitorandmanage
theoperationofthemajorityofthevehicle'sfunctions.This
sectiondescribesandidentiesvariouscomponentswithinthe
OverheadConsole,InstrumentPanelGaugeCluster,Center
DashPanel/WingPanel,SteeringColumnandSwitches,
SteeringWheelControls,DoorandWindowControls,Collision
Warning/SafetySystems,andElectronicT ouchscreen.
Electrical
WARNING
Topreventpropertydamage,personalinjury,and
/ordeath,thisvehiclemaybeequippedfrom
thefactorywithelectricalswitchesintendedto
operateequipmentthatwasinstalledbyaTruck
EquipmentManufacturer(TEM).Instructions,
Cautions,andWarningsforthisadditional
equipmentwillNOTbefoundinthismanual.
Readandunderstandtheappropriatemanual
forthespecicequipmentinquestionbefore
operating.
NOTE:Thisvehiclemaybeequippedwithelectronic,
application-specicoptionsnotdescribedinthisoperator’s
manual.Manyofthesefeaturesaresuppliedwithrocker
switchesthathavecustomlabelsapplied.Thepresenceof
theseoptionsasfactoryinstalledcanbeveriedfromthe
LineSetTicketincludedwiththevehicle.ATEM,however,
mayhaveinstalledsomeoftheseoptionsafterproduction.
Inthatcase,theywillnotappearontheLineSetTicket.
IfinstalledbyaTEM,youshouldreceiveanoperating
guideand/ortrainingforthespecicfunctionsprovided.
Familiarizeyourselfwithalloftheswitchesthatcontrol
chassis,engine,andbodyequipmentandseekadequate
trainingonthefunctionofallfeaturesbeforeoperatingthis
vehicle.
ElectricalSystem
TheElectricalSystemprovidesameanstodistributethe
electricalpowerandprovidethedriverwithcontrolsand
indicationsofvehicleperformance.Unlikepreviouselectrical
systems,thissystemusesmultiplexingforconnectingtomajor
functionalareasofthetruckwithmuchlesswiring.Thesystem
iscontrolledbytheBodyController,whichprovidesinterfacesto
amajorityofvehicleswitchesandsensors.TheBodyController
alsocommunicateswiththestandardandoptionalsystem
controllersandmodulesinthevehicle.
