Operation
ParkedRegenerationProcedure
PerformthefollowingstepstoinitiateParkedRegeneration
(cleaning)oftheexhaustlter:
1.Parkthevehiclesafelyofftheroadwayandawayfrom
ammablematerials.
2.Beforeinitiatingparkedregeneration(usingtheON/PARKD
REGENswitch),thefollowingconditionsmustbeinplace:
a.Parkingbrakemustbeset.
b.DPFindicatorilluminated(SolidorFlashing).
c.TransmissionmustbeinNeutral(N)orPark(P),if
available.
d.Accelerator,footbrakeandclutch(ifpresent)pedals
mustnotbedepressed.
e.Enginetemperaturemustbeatasufcientleveltoallow
regeneration.
Withsomeengines,thismaybeashighas170°F
(77°C).
NOTE:Theenginecoolanttemperaturemustbeabove
170°F(77°C)beforetheparkedregenerationprocedurecan
beperformed.Iftheenginecoolanttemperatureistoolow,
theparkedregenerationprocedurewillnotactivate.
3.PresstheONpositionoftheON/PARKDREGENswitchto
initiatetheregenerationcycle.
Theenginespeedwillautomaticallyrampuptoapreset
RPM,PARKDREGENACTIVEwillbedisplayedinthe
informationdisplay,andtheswitchindicatorwillilluminate
whenthecycleisstarted.Iftheindicatorisblinking,check
tobesurethatallconditionsinStep2havebeenmet.Once
started,theregenerationcyclewilllastapproximately30
minutes.
NOTE:Ifanyoftheaboveconditionsarealteredduringthe
ParkedRegenerationprocess,regenerationwillbehalted
andmustberestarted.
4.Whentheregenerationcycleiscomplete,the
switchindicatorwillgooff,theengineRPMwill
returntonormalidle,andallexhaustlterwarning
indicatorswillbeoff.Thevehiclemaynowbe
drivennormally.
NOTE:Intheeventofanemergencywherethevehicle
mustbemovedafterbeginningParkedRegeneration,press
PARKDREGENpositionoftheON/PARKDREGENswitch
tocancelParkedRegeneration.
RegenerationInhibitSwitch
TheoptionalRegenerationInhibitswitchisused
topreventthenormalregenerationorparked
regenerationprocesses.
NOTE:Therearetwoversionsoftheregeneration
inhibitswitch:thetwo-positionandthe
three-positionswitch.Therefore,itisnecessarytoverify
whichversionisinstalledinthisvehicle.Bothversions
havethesameswitchlabels.
