Operation
Two-PositionRegenerationInhibitSwitch
Withtheoptionaltwo-positionswitch,pressingtheONposition
oftheON/INHIBTREGENswitchwillinhibitbothnormaland
parkedregeneration.Regenerationwillbeinhibited(latched)
wheninthispositionandtheswitchindicatoristurnedon.
Three-PositionRegenerationInhibitSwitch
Theoptionalthree-positionswitchisacenterstablemomentary
switch.PressingtheONpositioninhibitsnormalregeneration
whiletheengineisrunningandisresetwhentheignitionswitch
isturnedoff.TheInhibitfunctioniscancelledwhenthelower
positionispressed,orparkedregenerationisinitiated(PARKD
REGENswitchisturnedtotheONposition).
Theswitchindicatorwillbeturnedonwheneverregeneration
inhibitisenabled.
Brakes
GeneralInformation
WARNING
Topreventpropertydamage,personalinjury,
and/ordeath,alwayscheckandmaintain
brakesinproperconditionandadjustment.
Out-of-adjustmentbrakescouldcausereduced
brakingability.
DownhillOperation
WARNING
Topreventpropertydamage,personalinjury,and
/ordeath,donotattempttogeardownifthe
engineisatornearmaximumspeed(RPM).Under
theseconditionsitwillbeimpossibletoshiftinto
alowergearandcouldresultinpossiblevehicle
runaway.
Alwaysdescendhillswithextremecare,relyingprimarilyonthe
enginebrakingeffecttocontrolvehiclespeed.Heedwarning
signspostedforanygrade.Stopandcheckbrakesforcondition
andadjustmentatavailablepull-offareasbeforestartinga
descent.
Observethefollowingprecautions:
•Nevercoastdownhill.Servicebrakesaloneshouldnot
beusedtocontrolspeedonmajordowngrades.Brakes
willfadefromoveruse.
•Downhillspeediscontrolledbyremovingone’sfootfrom
theacceleratorpedal(enginerunningwithclosedthrottle)
andputtingthetransmission/rearaxleinreducedgear.If
thetransmission/rearaxleisinagearthatresultsinmore
thantheappropriatespeed,aproperdownshiftshouldbe
madetoavoidoveruseofthebrakes.Ifthepropergear
selectionwasnotmadeandthebrakeswereoverused,
thenstopthevehicleandwaitforthebrakestocool.After
thebrakeshavecooled,continuedowngradeinalower
gearrange.
